Another window option

I’m now looking at windows from Loewen. Unfortunately the showrooms that sell them are only open during the week. Hopefully we can go look at some this week and then get a bid. I really like the fact that we could get fir trim for the inside. Then it would match the doors. Has anyone out their installed Loewen windows or have any experience with them? A friend of ours used them in new construction and has been very happy with them. We’ll see if our pocket book can handle the cost. This is a picture of one of their double hung windows. We wouldn’t have the divided lights on top, but keep an entire window like the original windows in our home:

Loewen is an excellent product. Lead times can be long-8 to 12 weeks.

Jeld-Wen Custom Collection is also a very good choice. Made in Bend, OR and they have a 2-3 week lead time.

I looked at the Loewen windows at the home show, they’re really nice. We were looking at Marvin windows as well, since they have an option for fir. I don’t know if Loewen offers a replacement window, since that was one thing we were considering. We won’t be doing the windows until next year at the earliest.

We went and looked at the Loewen windows today. They look great, but we didn’t like the bead trim next to the glass. (Small detail, I know). They did have true double hung windows by Lindal which were beautiful. They aren’t quite as airtight at the others, but were nice. Of course once we left Nick was trying to figure out how he could make the windows himself…
