ART Jobstart
Got this from my radiant floor contractor, Paul Pollets (Advanced Radiant Technology) last night:
Hi Nick & Trissa:
We’ll be arriving around 8:30am tomorrow (Th.) Boiler and water tank delivery is scheduled for late morning. My lead mechanic is Kelly Jecs. I’ll be there to help set up and layout the piping for a few hours, and we’ll leave the room ready for sheetrock, tape & paint. We’ll hang the boiler on Mon.
Paul
Let the installation begin! My fingers are crossed that it all goes smoothly. Last week I brought gas and water to approximate location of the boiler; today Paul and Kelly will bring it to the exact location and get everything ready for Monday’s installation day. I’ll have to spend a few hours this weekend hanging some sheetrock on the wall and taping it up - probably will even apply a coat of paint. There’s work to be done upstairs too in preparation for laying down the radiant floor. Our back porch is slated to be enclosed to become kitchen space, and this has been on my list for several weeks.
Fortunately, help arrives tomorrow (my dad is visiting for a week), and I’ve got next week off from work. Let the construction begin!
PS. Be sure to watch the ProjectCam over the next couple days. Lots of activity planned :)

Wow - it’s gonna be hard to get any work done today (at work…) I see guys in my basement!

It must be hard to work, when you don’t know where they’re going to cut or add pipes etc. I want to be there when we get our furnace replaced, I won’t bug the guy, I just want to make sure it’s done right.

Oh man, Derek, you hit the nail on the head. One reason I chose ART to do my boiler work is the craftsmanship and artistry I saw with their other jobs. When I got home yesterday I immediately checked out their work - pretty good so far (the real work begins Monday!). They did inadvertantly twist one of my gas pipe T’s out of 90 degrees, and I’ll have them turn it back on Monday; it’s functional but it just doesn’t look right!
