Bring out the sandpaper

We’re staying in town for Thanksgiving next week & my mind is beginning to wander. What will we be able to accomplish? I’m hoping to take out the sandpaper and varnish and finish the face frames of the cabinets. That way, when Nick’s finished building the cabinet doors, the frames will be all ready to go. I’ve been so tempted to “unpack” the rest of the kitchen that’s been in boxes for the past 18 months, but I figure if I’ve made it this far, a couple more months is nothin’! I’m not looking forward to the fine layer of sawdust, but anything that’s gets me closer to a completed kitchen would be great. I think Nick’s planning on working on the cabinet doors and drawers. After that I’m pretty sure we’ll start building the built in nook. By next spring we should be sitting in the nook, drinking a cup of coffee and watching Atticus run circles around the main floor. (I guess we better bump up the “childproofing” on our list. Hmmm…

Yeah it comes quick the need for childproofing, and with open plan it all has to be safe. We used a lot of gates to keep Seth out of the dangerous spots. I can’t wait to see the cupboards, hopefully the sanding goes smoothly.
