Daddy's non-helper

Guess what (or more succinctly, ‘who’) has been keeping us busy? Atticus. He’s a full-time job. Diapers, cradling, feeding, entertaining. And, to my chagrin, he’s not much of a helper with the house projects still. At 3 weeks old, you’d think he could at least hand me tools or something. But he’d rather sit in his bouncy chair and coo.

Last weekend I did find a couple of hours to work outside preparing our salvaged bead board for repainting. This is the bead board we removed from the porch ceiling last summer in preparation for the radiant floor tubing that needed to be installed above it to heat Atticus’s room. That work was completed a while ago, and I’ve since insulated the ceiling, which because it is our front porch is exposed to the outside. I’m anxious to get the bead boards back up if only because they’ve been stacked in multiple piles in my shop for months.

We used the Pigeon Point Paint Peeler to strip the majority of the “paint” off of this bead board. On about 75% of the bead board we did a pretty good job of getting everything off. On 25% though I must have been stripping it in my sleep and there’s a bunch of stuff that I missed. This is what I started cleaning up last weekend, and will continue on today and tomorrow if the weather cooperates (it’s now raining). Atticus unfortunately cannot be of any help since he shouldn’t be around any possible lead fumes. This kid has too many excuses.
