No sleep
I couldn’t sleep last night. Too many thoughts about:
- Tearing up the fir floors. Where to stack the wood?
- New beam between the dining room and kitchen. How heavy will it be? Where should I order it from?
- Boiler installation. Can I do it myself?
- New plumbing and radiant-floor design software that I haven’t installed yet. Is it any good?
- Trissa’s idea to terrace the back yard. Let’s get started!
- Dad’s upcoming visit. July or September?
- Icynene insulation for the 1st floor. Ummmm…Cozy & Quiet.
And, boundless others. Now I’m up and about, but on my way to work. Work sure gets in the way of getting the fun stuff done, doesn’t it?

I didn’t sleep either, I was up at 4:30, worrying about getting stuff done. I was worrying about dry rot in the house too, after looking at my neighbour’s house last night. The front wall has sheathing in the basement is completely rotten on one wall. We haven’t opened up all of our basement walls, I’m hoping there isn’t much rot in there. You’ve got a lot of projects going, have fun!

I am so there with you. I’ve had bad dreams three nights running about not being able to fix things in the house. Or a room falls off. Or the laundry keeps falling out of the dryer onto a dirty basement floor again and again and again.
The house is now the bogeyman of my adulthood.

I’m with ya there. And I always get my best ideas when I’m about to fall asleep or when I’m in the shower - you know, the most inconvenient times to write them down. Then I forget. *sigh*

Our laundry room floor is dirt! It’s no fun doing laundry for the next couple months.
