Weekly Poll

Calling all visitors: Vote in the poll! Our readership has gone up lately, but poll participation has sunk. We only have 24 votes this week. If you don’t like the questions, send some new interesting ones our way!

Last week’s poll asked about how you budget for house projects. I actually thought we’d go all week without any votes in the Scrooge category, but then this morning I see one person voted as such. Nearly half of us (46%) appear to have a rough idea of a project’s cost, but leave a bit of “wiggle room”. Nearly a third (29%) don’t mind spending 200% of our original budget if it comes to that. And the remaining 20% of us treat our house projects like a drug habit: it doesn’t matter where the funds come from – just spend it.

Trissa and I have been treating our house as a long-term habitat – we have no plans to move. That said, I can envision wanting a garage, or an alleyway someday, and our house has no prospects for these. For this weeks poll question we ask:

How long do you plan to live in your current home?

Have you ever asked how many other projects like this people have done. Is it their first time? Or are they like us, slightly seasoned veterans (3rd house).

Great idea, Becky. We haven’t asked that yet. It will be a good poll question!
