Between Innings
Atticus is sleeping for a few minutes, and my goal here is to write my first blog post since May 28 (Trissa has posted a few since then, but not me.) Hopefully he won’t wake up.
It’s been a busy summer. You might think that we’ve slowed down on the house, but in fact I think we picked up the pace a bit. Sometime in April we set ourselves a goal to have the walls up and mudded / taped / primed by July 4, which we barely accomplished. Following that we wanted to get the floor finished, such that Atticus would have a clean, non-slivery surface upon which to learn the art of crawling. Sometime in there I even managed to squeak in construction of the box beam ceiling, which I am pretty proud of.
The last two weekends have been a breather. We hosted family one weekend, and this weekend we’ve been busy with other things. Trissa goes back to work tomorrow and she’s in her classroom today getting ready. Atticus and I were going to sand and prime the beadboard for the ceiling on the porch, but he decided to take this nap instead. That leaves me, my coffee, and the computer to write this blog entry.
Now that we have our walls, our floors, and our ceiling I’m a little concerned that we could fall into a lack-of-motivation trap to keep going. The saving factor here is that Dad is coming in October for a week to help with the trim and cabinet work in the kitchen. That’ll likely be the next huge bit of progress around here. Or maybe the porch ceiling if Atticus and I can get it sanded and primed.
I see feet moving, so I’d better post this.

So where’s the pics of box beam ceiling? It looks great what you’ve done so far.
