Final Countdown
Recently Trissa mentioned on the blog that we have a new project in the wings. We expected to get this project under way by the end of April, but somehow we missed our mark. Today we’re officially a week and a day late on that project, or rather, the newest member of the Pigeon Point family is officially late a week and a day, although we expect it to arrive Thursday at the latest.

That’s right, we have a baby arriving this week! And we didn’t get it at the Home Depot!
The last several months have been a whirlwind of nonstop renovator weekends in an attempt to get this place ready for our newest worker, er, family member. I didn’t quite meet my goal of having drywall up, but we’re darn close. I have one electrical circuit remaining, and one room of insulation to complete, before the sheetrock contractor can come and do his job. The guy who bid the job claims he can have the stuff up in one day, and mud it in 4 days. I think realistically we’ll do this now in late May or June – it isn’t happening in the next couple of weeks now.
But the house is surprisingly livable. Dad was here in February to help with the kitchen cabinets and bamboo floors, and since then I’ve insulated and wired most of the first floor. We even have the interior doors hung. The baby’s room didn’t require much work – we painted it a couple of years ago and it still looks bright and fresh. About the only thing I did to it was insulate beneath the floor, half of which is the ceiling of our exposed front pooch.
Somehow in the next year though we’ll have to get walls up and doors on the kitchen cabinets. Dad – when are you coming out to help again?
In any event, the baby arrives this week by nature or inducement. Does anyone know how old it has to be before I give it a hammer?

Whoo hoo! Get ready guys! Now the fun begins.
Grace can sorta hold things now at 3.5 months, but she often hits herself in the head with said things. So, maybe not a hammer for a few months yet. I don’t think I’d trust her aim…

Great news! (Except for the late part…) :-) I was wondering when you’d mention it on the blog.
Keep us posted, but on the other hand don’t worry about getting info on to the blog—enjoy the family time. The house and everything else will wait and be way less important for a while.

I’m a lurker, but wanted to tell you that I thoroughly enjoy reading your blog, love what you’ve done and are doing to your home.
I certainly wish you both the very best of luck with the birth of your first child and all the joy and happiness that little ones bring.
I bet you can expect your Dad shortly after the wee one arrives ;)
Congratulations!!

Now, when you’re not working on the house you can direct the project camera at the baby. Hey, that gives me an idea - How much did you pay for that thing? I’m sure it must be cheaper than what I pay for child care…
