I think I'll like sweeping and mopping the floors...
If everything goes as planned, there will be bamboo floors in the entryway, hallway and kitchen by the end of next week. I can hardly wait! We can finally recycle the large pieces of cardboard that have been serving as “runners” and protecting the radiant floor tubing. It was last May when the last of the flooring got pulled up and we started leveling and repairing the subfloor. We’ve gotten a lot accomplished in nine months, but boy will it be nice to have a solid floor. We chose our bamboo awhile ago, but just purchased it a week and a half ago. It’s been sitting in the living room, we’ll adjusted to the temperature of our house since Nick hauled it up the stairs. We bought it from Bamboo Hardwoods after quite a bit of research. The flooring is an engineered floor, so it will work very well with the radiant heat. It is a floating floor and is made of the hardest species of bamboo discovered (or so they say)! I didn’t know that there was such variation in bamboo flooring until we started the research. The finish is formaldehyde free and they use a formaldehyde free glue as well. They have great information on the Bamboo Hardwood website. I was also interested in Teragren bamboo flooring which is located out of Bainbridge Island nearby, but Bamboo hardwoods is much closer and seemed to have the same quality level as the Teragren. So hopefully by this time next week I’ll be making a post with a picture of our floors. We will no longer be looking at the radiant floor loops, but I think I have the image stored in my brain so I won’t forget what it looks like!

That’ll be a great floor. So I guess you have to leave a space around the perimeter for the drywall? I haven’t heard about the engineered bamboo floors, just the tongue and groove nail/glue down kind. Can’t wait to see how it works, we may be doing laminate in the basement this weekend.
