Lap one complete!
The demolition went very smoothly today. Thank you so much to our wonderful crew of helpers: Jon, Jon, Sean, Eric, and Thomas. I think anyone would hire this demolition team. The chute to the garbage cans that Nick built worked very well. He built a chute out one of the large windows where we had several garbage cans waiting. As they became full, Thomas would swap an empty one and take the full one down the hill to the dumpster. Nick also made a ramp from the sidewalk out to the top of the dumpster. This made the dumping much easier.

We started off tearing down the walls and the pieces of plaster went down the chute. We used other garbage cans to collect the pieces of lathe and just carried those out as they became full. Our friend Jon had suggested using a snow shovel for scooping up the plaster and that worked great! By noon we had met our goal and had all the lathe and plaster off the walls and ceiling in the living room and dining room. We will continue to vacuum and pull lathe nails out for the next couple days.

It is encouraging to have had the first day of demolition go so smoothly. The kitchen is next and we know that we can have that finished by the end of Memorial Day weekend.

Look how tidy your construction site is-woohoo! Congrats on meeting your goal as I know that doesn’t always happen.
