Passed!

Oh, I’m sooo excited. We finished the electrical service upgrade a few weeks ago, but the remaining nagging item was to call the inspector. Yesterday I used the city website to schedule the inspection, and stayed home this morning to be here when he arrived. I was his first inspection of the day (of 15 scheduled), and he arrived around 10:30. The first thing he did was take the cover off the service panel and inspect the ground wires. He checked to make sure the first wire ran continuously to the water-service entrance, and that the second wire was continuous and tied to two grounding rods spaced eight feet apart. Then he inspected the panel to make sure the correct-size breakers were used for the major circuits, and he was done. We passed! Thanks, city inspector guy!

Awesome! We had a few small issues with our first inspection, just a lot of little things. Our permit actually expired and the inspector called us to remind us to schedule an inspection, or we’d be fined. I don’t know if we have the grounding rods, we just replaced knob and tube, the panel was already updated. It’s only 125 amp, which is enough at the moment. The metre says 200 amp, so maybe it can be updated.
