Router

After reading Jeanne’s post at House in Progress, it made me think about using the router. I haven’t used it much, but I did use it to make the grooves in the chalk tray for the chalkboard this weekend.

It’s pretty cool when you choose a bit, get it all set up and then you end up with the beautiful cut in the wood. I can imagine if you’re not good with visualizing how the bit works, it would be difficult to see what cuts the bits make. The little pictures on the side of the box for the more elaborate bits don’t really give a good indication of what you’ll end up with. (In my opinion!)

Maybe I could make a cool holder for all the bits that had examples of the cuts they made next to them. Then I would be looking at all the great things I could do with the router and then I could think up some new projects!

Maybe for a first project I could make a picture frame without too much hassle. God knows, I have enough pictures of Atticus around to fill up some frames!

Nick did tell me that you can buy router bits to make the track for Brio trains. Just imagine the track that could go through our house for Atticus! If I started with something simple like this now, imagine what it would be once he can talk and help make the track!
