Weekly Poll - April 10th, 2005
WOW – thanks to a mid-week splurge we had 39 votes this week!
The poll results are mixed: the most common first remodeling project is painting, at 28%. A few of us (15%) have been busy ensuring our houses won’t fall down, and an equal number decided to have really nice floors from the outset. Only four people immediately tackled the kitchen or bathroom first. Eight people (21%) have secret projects that weren’t listed as options in the poll.

The first few polls we did in March asked about your blogging habits, and I thought it would be fun to share some of the data we have from our ISP about the visitors to Pigeon Point Project. Here’s a chart showing our visitor spread across time zones – go Central! (my family is in Wisconsin…)

48% of our visitors are using Windows XP, 21% are on Windows 2000, 12% are on Windows 98, and 12% are Mac users. 80% are using IE, 7% are using Safari, and 5% are using Firefox. Indecently, Trissa and I are Firefox users, and I think the site looks best in Firefox. Have I mentioned that I’m an EX-Microsoft employee? :) (but, true to my roots, the site is ASP.NET-based…)
This week let’s find out about our DIY remodeling skills. Did you inherit them from you parents? Are you learning as you go? Is your partner the skillful one?
And this week, you can check more than one answer!

I’ve just added a new feature to the site: the “Weekly Poll Archive.” The link is over on the left menu - check it out!

Hmm, I wonder what those eight people’s secret projects are?
I’m one of the ones upping your numbers in the Central time zone. :)

Great poll topic this week! One more source for skills…insane amounts of volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and Cabrini Alive. Also, the internet forums, such as Breaktime over at Fine Homebuilding. Magazines such as Fine Homebuilding help too!
